There were wholesale changes throughout the game by Leeds as they tried to give game time to as many players as possible. Matthew Flanagan replaced Mel Sterland at Right Back after thirty minutes, Mark Tinkler came on for Centre Half Chris Sullivan after fifteen minutes, Steve Ball replaced Chris Kamara at Inside Right after twenty-three minutes. Richard Hepworth replaced Andy Williams after thirty minutes. It was then almost all change in the second half as Leeds lined up: Chris Flear; Kevin Daly, Alex Byrne; Gary O'Hara, Andy Couzens, Mark Tinkler; Richard Hepworth, Matthew Flanagan, Steve Tobin, Gary Kelly, Marlon Billy. The only change during the second half was Iso Budimir replacing Richard Hepworth, at Outside Right in the sixty-eighth minute. The goals were late in coming with Richard Hepworth getting the first in the fifty-third minute, Steve Tobin the second in the sixty-seventh minute and Gary kelly the third a minute before time.
